01 / GETTING STARTED

One calm step
at a time.

Setting up a hardware wallet is about creating a secure foundation. Use this overview to understand what to expect, then let the official Trezor setup page and your device guide each action.

01

Go to the official start page

Type trezor.io/start into your browser yourself, or use the official link above. Check the address carefully before connecting your device. Avoid sponsored search results, unsolicited messages, and unfamiliar setup links.

02

Connect and follow verified prompts

Use the cable supplied for your device and follow the instructions on the official website. Install only software that the official setup flow directs you to. Your device may need a firmware update before it is ready; confirm prompts on the device itself.

03

Create a new wallet

Choose the option to create a new wallet if this is your first device. Your device will generate a recovery phrase. Write it down in the order shown and check every word carefully. The phrase is the backup to your wallet, so protect it as you would cash or a key.

04

Confirm your backup and set a PIN

Complete the device's backup check without photographing, copying, or typing the phrase into a computer or phone. Choose a PIN that is hard to guess and keep it private. When setup is complete, take a moment to review the security guidance supplied by Trezor.

02 / KEEP YOUR WALLET SAFE

Your recovery phrase
belongs to you alone.

Anyone who obtains it may be able to access your funds. Trezor support will never need you to reveal it.

Keep it offline

Store the written backup somewhere private and secure. Do not save it in screenshots, cloud storage, email, notes, or password managers.

Reject urgent requests

Ignore anyone asking for your phrase, PIN, or remote access—even if they claim to be support or say your wallet is at risk.

Verify every address

Bookmark the official site after checking its spelling. Navigate there directly instead of following unexpected links or QR codes.
